UMOUR RITUAL EXPEDITION TO THE HIGH LINE NYC

AN EVENT/NON-EVENT EVENT

Our intrepid Ritual Specialists Kol and Loudmouth Bill set out on this dismal Saturday to perform a restorative healing ritual on the High Line elevated railway in New York City. Our efforts were to be an attempt to purposefully de-gentrify the High Line, in particular, and the city in general. Alas, we found our access point blocked by a facistic police presence. Undeterred, we performed a musical de-gentrification ritual in the street just below the High Line, which can be seen both below and here.

See pictures and read an account of this historic expedition here.

UMOUR RITUAL RECORDING SESSION

LEOPARD RECORDING STUDIO, STONE RIDGE NY

Umour Ritual Specialists Kol, Kane and Loudmouth Bill were joined by European Ritual Specialist Em and singer-songwriter Java Jel for an Umour Ritual Recording Session at Leopard Recording Studio in Stone Ridge NY.

The objectives of this gathering were to summon the muses of the ancient psychedelic arts to inspire a lengthy and meandering live recorded jam. Sadly, that didn't happen. What did take place were several additional vocal and instrument tracks bringing near completion to the More Pink Pigs Head recordings.

RITUAL EXPEDITION TO

THE PALMS HOTEL, SOUTH FALLSBURG, NY

Once again mining the psychic depths of Sullivan county, N.Y., our intrepid Ritual Specialists engaged in an expedition to the historic (and fragrant) Palms Hotel. Like many other Catskills archeological sites, The Palms has the look of a world which has suffered through some apocalyptic conflict. The few human survivors appear basically left to fend for themselves. Are these places actually crumbling former resorts in an economically depressed area or are they a prophetic glimpse of a future that awaits us all?

RITUAL EXPEDITION TO

THE PINES HOTEL, SOUTH FALLSBURG, NY

CLICK HERE TO SEE PHOTOS OF

...........................The Pines

This onetime borscht belt glitz place is in the process of becoming something much much more; a growing, sprouting, decaying, surrealist fantasy. Visiting The Pines is like diving into the bubbling swimming pool (or cesspool) of long repressed childhood nightmares. We could smell our uncle's greasy cigars and swear we heard the stale laughter from old Henry Youngman jokes drifting on the wind... or maybe that was just a side effect of all the mould.

OTTO'S SHRUNKEN HEAD

Umuor Ritual Specialists Kol, Kane and Loudmouth Bill journeyed to Otto's Shrunken Head in the East Village for a high-level, secret strategy meeting with Ritual Specialist ( Europe ) Em and the Anderson brothers. Details of the meeting are classified but will certainly lead to numerous upcoming acts of Spontaneous Umouriation. On returning from the city, the Ritual Specialists felt a strange, overwhelming compulsion to perform an impromptu ritual expedition to the Leatherman's grave in Ossining, NY.

NATHAN'S IMMINENT DEMISE

Nathan's Iin Yonkers

An impending tragedy has spurred the Umour Ritual Specialists to action. The magnificent Central Avenue Nathan's in Yonkers NY, the third Nathan's restaurant ever, is soon to be demolished. In the place of this cultural institution, which served generations of Westchester's young, will be built another bland, faceless strip mall or office tower. Umour Ritual Specialists Kol, Kane and Loudmouth Bill visited the doomed icon for one (possibly) last frolic through it's myriad of pleasures. The building Nathan's occupies was formerly The Adventurer's Inn, and through careful observation, evidence of the building's former identity was uncovered.

After the event and quick trip to the Alice In Wonderland statue at The Conservatory Pond, the Ritual Specialists visited The Rocket Garage Cigarette Graveyard, a popular Manhattan tourist destination.

AN UMOUR RITUAL EXPEDITION

To

THE GOWANUS CANAL

An Umour outing to the peaceful shores of the idyllic and tranquil Gowanus Canal. The gentle zephyrs which blew off the N.Y. harbor tingled our skin and filled our olfactors with a bliss that can only be described as transcendental. Oh, lovely Gowanus, may that we be worthy to again behold thy fragrant waves and stroll thy pastoral banks.

To

THE TENT OF TOMORROW

FLUSHING MEADOW PARK

Site of the 1964 WORLDS FAIR

Global Warming had the weather feeling like summer in mid-November, so
we set out for the beach or maybe a trip into the city. We did neither.
Instead we braved the wilds of Flushing Meadow Park looking for the dreaded
Meadow Lake Snakehead Fish. We didn`t find any.

THE TROLLY TO THE MOUNTAIN OF WHITE TRASH

Near the sleepy village of Kingston, N.Y. stands the mighty Mountain of
White Trash. Ritual specialists Kane, Kol and Loudmouth Bill have
determined that the most aesthetically pleasing way to view this
magnificent landmark is via a historic trolley ride which departs from

The Kingston Trolley Museum.

AN UMOUR NON-EVENT EVENT!

NEW YORK YANKEES vs. BOSTON RED SOX

Watch the game (at Fenway Park) with us at:
NEWS ROOM
854 Gerard Ave,
Bronx NY 10451
Just 1 block east of Yankee Stadium!

09.26.2004 ACCOUNT OF THE NON-EVENT EVENT:

We got to the stadium right on time and just as we suspected the Yankees weren't there.
The stadium exuded a sort of quiet emptiness. We all felt very privileged not to be
seeing such an un-important game. We shopped for souvenirs along River Ave but we
didn't buy any. Then we went to The News Room on Gerard Ave and made some friends.

Dennis met us there and he brought his video camera so we were able to make a movie.
We left before the Yankees gave up seven runs in the eighth inning to lose the game.

The movie has been edited for content and formatted to fit your screen, and is available HERE.

JULY 4th 2004

Loud Mouth Bill MC's

THE 1st CONEY ISLAND 4th OF JULY HAMBURGER EATING CONTEST

to be held at:

Peggy O'Neill's Restaurant
1904 Surf Avenue
Brooklyn, NY 11224
(718) 449-3200

(Right across the street from Coney Island's famous Cyclone Roller Coaster)
ACCOUNT OF THE EVENT/NON-EVENT EVENT:
So the three of us leisurely rolled down from Yonkers to Coney Island in Loud Mouth Bill's big ugly Buick, The Pig.
We arrived in front of Peggy O'Neill's about 1:00 PM. There we observed The Chow Hound huckstering people into the place. Coney Island was a mad house. We pulled over briefly to say "hey" and to ask where we should look for parking. Chow Hound suggested a lot on the next block. It was full. In fact, all the lots on Coney Island were full. We tooled around for over an hour, with no where to park The Pig, and finally ended up at a diner in Brighton Beach, where the food was good and the beautiful russian women were plentiful. Loud Mouth Bill picked up the tab and we headed back to the 'burbs.

On the way back we passed the Fountain Avenue landfill.
